Only 12 months late, here are the results of my movie list for 2006!
2006 Stats:
Total Movies Seen: 60, by far my lowest since keeping the list (every other year I was at least in the 70's with many years above 100) although I suspect 2007 was in the same range.
2006 Grade Distribution:
A+: 3
A: 25
B: 24
C: 7
D: 1
Movies Seen at SIFF: 14, again a really low total for me. I was out of town for a week during SIFF in 2006. It was still a decent SIFF, though, since two of my top 10 movies ("Word Play" and "Dreamland") were from SIFF. In addition, I didn't manage to see my #1 movie "Expiration Date" during SIFF (I think it played when I was out of town), but I would never even have heard of it if I hadn't seen a trailer for it at the SIFF preview.
My Top 10 Movies of 2006:
1. Expiration Date
2. Little Miss Sunshine
3. Inside Man
4. Wordplay
5. Thank You for Smoking
6. Match Point
7. Stranger than Fiction
8. Brokeback Mountain
9. Dreamland
10. The Queen
Another gem from SIFF in 2006 was "Isolation." I was really sad that I couldn't squeeze it into my top 10, but in the end I felt that each of the movies above were clearly more deserving.
