Here's the story with this blog. As most of you know, I used to keep a list of all the movies I saw, plus a grade for each movie. After the year was over I would send out the list as well as a top ten and bottom ten for the year. I was incredibly busy in January and early February of 2007, so I never got around to sending out my movie list for 2006. No one seemed to have noticed that I didn't publish the list, though, so I figured that maybe the time for the movie list was past. I never sent out my 2006 movie list, and I didn't keep a list in 2007. During 2007, though, a number people asked me what had happened to the movie list. It appeared that there was at least some demand for it. I still felt, however, that the whole list and sending it out once a year wasn't the best idea, so I decided to try this blog instead.
In general, I will try and post a review of any movie I see in the theater within a day or two, although during the SIFF I suspect I will fall behind. Reviews won't be super long, probably just a few paragraphs giving my take on the movie. I'm not sure if I will publish a top ten just at the end of the year, or maybe keep a list that I update as new movies come out starting mid year or so. I will also probably review a few movies that I see on DVD or on TV. I certainly won't review all movies I see that way, but one's that catch my interest I probably will. Any best of lists, will still come from movies I see in the theater, though.
In the next few days I expect to post a bunch of stuff, mostly culled from my movie lists of years past. That level of activity will NOT be kept up.
I've left the option to comment open, but I make no promises whether I will respond to any comments.
I hope you enjoy my blog!
Jim
P.S. When I review a movie, the post label will link to the imdb listing for that movie.

You manage to NOT produce a best movies list in the year that THE BEST MOVIE EVER was released?
I am of course referring to "Batman Begins".
And I will beat you and Skaff to death if I hear any crap about it not being the best movie.
Oh yeah...and nice to hear from you. :)
Hey Jimmy!
Your blog is a very cool idea. I always have various movies I want to ask you about, then I always forget by the time I talk to you. So this is very useful! Plus it's a good excuse to send you messages and see what you've been up to. It was great to spend Xmas with you and we miss you here in Cincy-
Love Ann
Over the next few weeks, I'm planning on doing reflections on past years where I kept a list, so I'll talk about 2006 then. I suspect you will owe me a beating afterwards...
What a great idea for your movie list Jim-a blog is perfect!
Joe, I figured you'd go for Rang de Basanti, or Lagaan, or maybe something like Sholay. Batman Begins just doesn't have enough singing, and the color palette for the costumes is as flat a dime.
Joe,
As I started going through my movie lists from past years, I realized you were mistaken: Batman Begins came out in 2005, and I did put out a movie list for that year. It barely missed my top 10 that year, although I did declare that it was definitely my favorite Batman movie.
